Waiting to watch Zak and team hit their first site ever again!

Will be watching Ghost Adventures to see how Zak, Aaron and Nick make it through the night at the only place they bailed out of during an all night investigation...at the Old Washoe Club and then the Chollar Mine.  My Mom and I watch these a day late so we can have some time to watch our favorite shows together.  Although I am banned from pointing out things I think are fishy or how Steve Gonsalves is a bully in my opinion on Ghost Hunters or any show.  I imagine it can get annoying, but I do hate people being hypocrites or try to pull the wool over people's eyes in order to make some money.

  I'm dirt poor, but I wouldn't profess to be a medium or invent things just to get cash on tv at the expense of others.  I know, I know, you are saying, yeah, but you would if you got the chance and were shown the money "Show me the Money!"...BUT no...  I couldn't do it, I wouldn't be able to sleep at night telling people their loved ones who had passed are speaking through my "spirit guide" and do cold readings while guessing the most obvious things or putting things out there that happen to anyone..."does anyone have a mother who left them as a child? Then passed without talking?  There's bound to be someone out in the audience who had this happen...then you have your target..."She would like to ask for your forgiveness"  sure, play on their feelings...  It makes me sick to see these people do it, and then see guys like Montel Williams fall for their scheme and give them airtime. 

 As P.T. Barnum said, "There's a sucker born every minute."  I hate to put it in that term, I feel bad for the people who are taken in by professed psychics, especially ones who would put kids in terror, just to try and get another paranormal television show going, with him "guiding" these kids to the next level, or whatever.  When I see kids all under the age of 10, terrified and this guy trying to get a show off their terror, it makes me mad.  As far as I know, this show was not renewed, and I hope it stays that way.

 Anyway, here's to watching Ghost Adventures, myself, with a grain of salt and hefty skepticism, but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy it like I enjoy Ghost Whisperer...although "Love" Hewitt is much better on the eyes.  Sorry, I do see those women out there admiring Zak in his T-Shirts...who cares about the show? lol, it's all in good fun.  Hopefully, I will be able to comment on the revisit to the Old Washoe Club, looks interesting!  Will they bail again, will a brick fly? Some already know...not me :)

Sorry for lean times

 I know, I know, I need to post more often... But when you are trying to manage more than one blog and get tired easily, it can get tough at times.

 I've found the latest show, Ghost Hunters Academy, nothing more than a rehash of visiting sites that they have investigated before...now going to the Buffalo Main Train station, not sure it's official title without peeking and I would have to turn the monitor back into my TV....the downside of having an HDTV double as your monitor.  But going to these same spots while doing nothing more than beating the enthusiam out of these kids is kind of sad if you ask me.  Some don't like the "medium", I don't really believe in mediums myself, although I do love the Television Show with Patricia Arquette!  But then I love Ghost Whisperer too, so sue me..lol.  But back to "Academy"  These poor kids, who want to learn how to "Properly" ghost hunt, as if Jay and Grant's word on Ghost Hunting is the Bible, do NOT deviate outside the party lines or get punished...just makes me NOT like this show.  I don't believe it will get picked up as a new franchise, at least I hope not.  When early on in Ghost Hunters, it was absolutely verboten to investigate by themselves, Steve and Tango send these "students" out on their own all the time.  Makes no sense whatsoever.

 They also bring in their preconcieved notions about other people..ie. the "medium" although I  don't believe, I WOULD give her a chance, with no hidden prejudice against her, who knows, she may make me a believer!  But she's gone now, who would have guessed that....first night, send her out alone, making snarky remarks about her beliefs.  Now if it was the official rule NEVER to investigate alone, and in the very first Eastern State penitentiary episode, they get all over this guy for doing it, yet, when Brian and the Camera man get spooked in the "DUDE, RUN" controversy, no one said anything about them staying together, if the cameraman ran, was Brian supposed to stay with him? Or was he supposed to keep on investigating, leaving that guy to his own devices?  Yet Steve throws this girl into the scariest part of the Ft. Mifflin area, the dungeons that were found, alone!  She doesn't investigate to their standards and wonder why....

 The same thing happens with the new girl, heck, they make her cry on the show, "Crying? There's No Crying in Ghost Hunting!" except when you are a sound man who gets hit with his own bag...OR you are trying to get on a jet to go investigate overseas.  Do they realize what hypocrites they are being? Meh, Probably.  Now as I had suggested on forum chat, why don't they use animals?  Now all of a sudden, we have a new show on Animal Planet regarding animals and the paranormal....

 We now have a former member of Ghost Hunters come out and talk about the show pretty candidly, but when called to task, she tries to blame the interviewers for what she said?  On another show, during a live halloween broadcast, we actually have a guy throw an emf detector and not realize he was caught dead to rights?  So much so, that people who are watching the show all text in or e-mail in, hey! That dude threw the darn thing!  And poor Zak and company were so excited about Sparky, the Parabot.  Where was that ghost he promised to catch, anyway?  This section isn't going my way...I better try a diversion..whoops, where did that camera come from?  Then Zak and Aaron in the recap show, have to  show all these highlights of the show, where I've heard they hunted on the wrong floor for Lily...the random radio word reciever...(local cb or ham operators having a blast...lol) (I really don't know how the thing works, but does it get ghost voices? I doubt it.)  Yeah, I'm pretty cynical at this point, after years of watching Ghost Hunters (Mainly the skinny guy with hair) trying to fool the average person..and to my surprise, the average person, is kind of gullible!  They have a cult following now to the point where they don't even have to defend their actions, they let their minions do it for them.  Just stay away from the grape kool-aid you guys...

 Ah well, I've lost my head of steam...I'm tired of going from forum to forum that advocate these guys and point things out, like the lamp cord at Myrtle Plantation, in the "slave shack" built in the 60's...1960's...lol.  I just hope they have trouble sleeping at night knowing what they are doing to people who want to believe so badly, that they save places at the table in case the guys show up.  I may get negative comments, but with only 300 hits so far, I doubt it...I can ramble all I want and not worry about how many "fans" crawl out of the woodwork to tell lil ol me to shaddup. :)

 

Joe Nickell's blog newsfeed added

 Joe Nickell, a paranormal investigator/skeptic, who also has a website http://www.joenickell.com/ , and has been called the modern day Sherlock Holmes or compared to Scully from the X-Files in his efforts to explore the paranormal and point out "hinky" things that were claimed to be paranormal.  He also has many other careers which you can explore on his site such as poet, author and private detective. He's a multi-talented person who happened to get into exploring the paranormal.

  I would like to point out his interview granted to Stephen, a member of The Skeptical Viewer website, where his podcast with Joe Nickell is posted.  This interview is great and should be a good listen to the paranormal skeptic or just those interested in the paranormal. He is a person along the line of James Randi, who is famous for debunking psychics and mediums, although Mr. Nickell has expanded his paranormal debunking to cryptozoology, ghosts, crop circles and other phony people out to hoodwink the public.

 Here is the link to his interview, please enjoy it and take time to check out the Skeptical Viewer website, which primarily concentrates on recent television "documentaries" on the paranormal and pointing out possible alternative explanations to the events seen on these shows.  Please be aware that almost all of the people who contribute to the Skeptical Viewer website do believe in the paranormal and have had paranormal experiences, but don't want people to be fooled by these shows which use pseudo science to attempt to find ghosts with emf detectors, etc.

Ghost Hunters-Pensacola Lighthouse

Maybe we should call this episode, the "Pensacola Camera Light" as the episode did focus a lot on Grant's infrared illumination light turning off and on, apparently using the switch no less.  Do we add this to the "Grant List" on the http://www.skepticalviewer.com/ website?  We couldn't see what Grant was doing with the camera as we weren't shown up close shots, one of them occuring when the light was on, directly at the crew camera, hiding any movement and another was conviently behind Jason's noggin!  This episode was really hyped during last week's episode, but memorable, not really. I didn't get to watch Ghost Hunter's Academy yet, but I imagine it will be another show of Steve berating these people interested in learning the paranormal.  He acts like everything Ghost Hunters does is written in stone, no other way of investigating the paranormal is correct.  Their way or the highway, if it includes a dodgy collar pull...I will take the highway anyday.  Why Jason won't speak for Grant on this issue is troubling, he did "inspect" the collar, so why does he always say "Ask Grant" when it comes to that issue?  Just sounds like deflecting any possible poo that hits the fan when the truth comes out so it doesn't hit him.  But the fact will always remain, he did check out the collar and the collar did move a strange way when he patted him on the back.  Grant seems to be backing up and trying to go with the "it might have been my earpiece" bit..if he had been wearing an earpiece though all the halloween live episodes before and was wired up before the episode, he would have known how it acts and how it might feel like a tug.  But an earpiece causing him to flail one arm and almost lift a foot if he didn't actually do so (the overacting was very bad), normal people wouldn't have left one arm in their pocket, they would have pulled it out to help in case of a fall, plus he did it more than once, the overacting bit when the collar was pulled downward, not towards the back, he also says "look at the infrared where the ghostie (well, he didn't say that) pulled!" But that was just the part of the jacket that was next to his neck exposed after the pull, of course there will be heat there, and if a ghost, wouldn't it be colder, since they often feel cold spots?

 This is what gets me, they see these solid heat emitting apparitions (the same amount of heat as a person who is alive), which is supposed to be the "holy grail" of ghost hunting, but they don't chase it?  Now during this year's Ghost Hunter episodes, we see that "Samual Mudd House" apparition featured during "next week on Ghost Hunters, or Next On Ghost Hunter" promos, Jason didn't pan to the left real far like he says he did, and why, if it was that close, did they stop and study the video (which they could have done later) and not chase the darn thing?  And why wasn't it featured in the reveal, but now used in these promos?  This is what makes these guys charlatans and the fact they are making loads of money on the show plus GH merchandise  as well as personal appearances, taking money from hard working people who want to believe so badly in them, disgraceful.  This is my opinion of course, and how they can sleep at nights is beyond me, all a believer in them has to do is watch the Myrtle's Plantation episode and pay attention to the scene in the "Slave Shack" watch the lamp cord, which is hanging straight down, with Grant a ways away from it, then in next scene the cord is hanging at about a 45 degree angle, defying gravity with Grant right by it, arms crossed and the cord appearing to go straight into the hand under Grant's right armpit.  I knew something smelled funny at that time...and it wasn't Grant's armpit (I don't think).  Very strange indeed.

Ghost Lab episode, Dallas Texas

It was two towns in Texas that were investigated by Ghost Labs in the episode I saw yesterday, again, a day late to be able to have some time with my mom.

 One was a restaurant, the Catfish Plantation in Waxahatchie, Tx that had alledged moving silverware and chair rearranging themselves.  The Klinge brothers seemed to find some evidence of that happening with a butter knife on video, but as they themselves said, they couldn't be sure that it hadn't been loosened accidentally by a member of the team.  There also was a spoon that moved off camera, but again they said that wasn't evidence due to the fact it wasn't caught on video.  I did forget the moving sliding door, that was the most interesting, it appears to slide in and out of a slot in the wall, another angle appeared to show no one around, but as all angles weren't visible, I can't count it as paranormal. But interesting none the less. What impressed me was they were at the site three days and only caught that knife moving, no evps or hooded apparitions on infrared cameras, like some other teams. 

While mentioning that, I can't believe they use that Mudd House "apparition" on the Ghost Hunters intro!  They didn't even present it to the site owner in the final review! Also, with the Donna LaCroix interview on GhostDiva's webcast has sure caused a fuss, even though apparently, Donna didn't want it to be taken that way in later communication with various sites.  It even caused a fight on a certain blog where I do have to take the Ghost Diva's side on the matter.  Sadly, that blog's owner even caused potential danger to a former paranormal investigator, despite his good intentions. 

 But back to Ghost Lab, after their three day investigation at the inn, they went to a hotel in Dallas, where the highlight of the investigation, was to ask "Smiley" a ghost supposedly haunting a certain room, permission to enter (I believe 702, will have to check and edit this later, with hotel and inn names as well), before the magnetic key card would work.  This happened several times, don't ask, the key card don't work, ask Smiley if they could come in, the door opens easily with the keycard.  If I remember right, this investigation, besides having that coincidence, which could be said not to be one as it was reported to happen all the time, who knows, yielded only an evp, which wasn't very good.  I do have to say, Ghost Lab does have the disclaimer that their evidence is real before the show, and with finding very little during investigations, not a bunch of things as in other shows, I tend to believe they are trying.  Whether or not they will give in to the "we want ghosties in most investigations, and good ones! mentality, is yet to be seen.  I do have to say that you have to put up with one of the brother's zealousness (a little like Brian on GH) a lot.  It is like Brian Harnois (who I wish the very best, he didn't ask for all this put on him and the alledged hassling by certain people), you either like him or you don't.

 But to Brian Harnois, Donna LaCroix and Andy, I wish you guys the very best, I heard  things weren't going as well as you would have liked at this point, it may or may not be true, but I want you guys to know you were appreciated by your fans, and all I can do is wish you good luck in the future, I know you didn't want to end up part of a controversy, at least that much is true, and I hope the fans hold only good feelings and well wishes for you.

Waiting for daily GH and GHA Viewing

Well, I'm waiting to watch last night's Ghost Hunters and Ghost Hunters Academy with my mother, we have a set time to watch them every Thursday...it's usually too late for us on Wednesday Night.

 I was a little disappointed with Ghost Hunters Academy, first, I think they should go to new sites, not rehash old sites that the Ghost Hunters have already investigated.  Also, am I the only one who thinks that Steve is a little hard on these people?  It seems he's getting the Jason mentality down already in my opinion.  I would like the show to be a little more positive, not negative as it's started out...instead of teaching, they criticize.  I know teachers that were jerks never really got through to me, but teachers that took the time to explain things calmly, without sarcasm in their voice, as well as pointing out the positive aspects of what I had done, got through to me much better.  Tango seems to be a little better at this aspect, although I haven't seen last night's episode.  A good example is the girl who claims to be psychic and wanted to go into the building (last week, Ft. Mifflin), without history to taint her feelings.  Steve ragged on this, but I think all should go into buildings that are alledged to be haunted without knowing all the things that have been reported before.  This is a blind study and would put more credibility to things they found that agree with the history (provided they didn't know on the side), much more.  Knowing what's alledged to have happened on a site, could give the brain some subliminal weakness to see what was said to be haunting the place.  Going in cold, you don't have that, and if they come out saying they heard voices saying "I'm Joe" for example and later find out a guy named Joe died there, would be far more convincing to me.

Re: Extreme Paranormal

 There is a very good commentary on this pathetic show at http://whofortedblog.com/ . It is very insightful and a great commentary on how the paranormal themed shows are getting out of hand.  If Judas Priest can be sued (unsuccessfully) for alledged subliminal messages on one of their albums causing a suicide, just imagine what A&E is setting themselves up for with this show.  As the editor who commented on the above mentioned blog states, this show is very dangerous.  All it takes is a few kids attempting to recreate these stunts and get injured for the proverbial excrement to hit the fan.  Please take time to read this great article, in case it moves down the line, I will post the direct link, I am also going to add a newsfeed from their site at the bottom of this page.  Having just found the site, I think it's yet another good site for the skeptic or those who wonder just what is going on in these paranormal shows.  Although lately, they have concentrated on weird news, rather than bashing on shows as many sites have now started to do, I think their taking the time to point out the stupidity of the actions on the show as a public service in itself noteworthy.  It's sad that one of the members of the Extreme Paranormal "Stooges" was a part of the history of their blog, the writer of the article being a former friend before they parted ways on good terms, he does feel the need to give his honest opinion of how this show is dangerous as well as a blight on paranormal investigators in general.

 When I watched this show, sadly only now getting around to voice my opinion, I too felt this wasn't a show worth watching.  I hope that it's two show run is the last we will see of this show.  I felt myself wanting to laugh at most of the situations, except the "blood ritual", although supposedly edited not to show the whole ritual, I do think there will be some who try to recreate this situation.  I can see only harm coming from this, if not just the self-inflicted injury itself, to accidental burns and deep cuts and infection.  And that's only the medical side effects, who knows the psychological effects this can have on young people?  Can't be good, that's for sure.  As it is, all the other paranormal show's members are distancing themselves from this show as fast as they can, I don't blame them.

Re: Japanese blinking dog shirt...hoax.

There's a video clip on youtube (I will post the link so you can judge for yourself), which alledges to show a sweat shirt a guy was wearing, that had a cartoon dog picture on it apparently blinks. I say on the comments that after I watch it and pause on the blink, you can see where the eyes have been airbrushed during the blink, which was just a quick animation of the eyes. There was a comment after that which stated, "Oh it was on TV, it couldn't be fake"..yeah, and the dinosaurs on Jurassic Park really exist. They also state you can't see any alteration of the eyes, I just made a screen capture of the video at that point, you can clearly see where the two eyes have been altered. But will this convince that person? I doubt it, as I've said before, people so want to believe in the paranormal, they will even believe something as silly as a cartoon dog blinking on a video. Sure, it's a fun video, but is it real? Extreme Paranormal to air Tonight on A&E

Well, it looks like yet another paranormal show has been thrown into the mix with Extreme Paranormal airing on A&E tonight. It's another in several new shows to cram the airways with paranormal themes, joining Ghost Lab, Celebrity Ghost Stories, Ghost Hunters Academy to name a few. It's like everyone is joining the bandwagon on the paranormal. Yet another television trend like westerns, then detective shows, the age of comedies II (1970'S), the Night time Soaps, the Family show genre like Family Ties and The Cosby Show, then Reality Game Shows recently, the Million Dollar Night Time Game Show, Criminal Science and now Paranormal joining the likes of Ghost Whisperer, Medium to the Paranormal Docu-Soap Ghost Hunters and the ilk. We shall see if it's yet another "try to fool them for the cash" type show or will we finally ever get a skeptical Ghost Hunting show? We now know that Ghost Hunters wasn't was the type of show it was made up to be. I'm talking a real, for darn sure, skeptical bunch like Scooby and the Gang to go and pull the sheet off of whoever was under it at the Eastern State Penitentiary. Heck, we can see the leg and shoe, why would a ghost be under a sheet anyway? Even a black, silk type? I guess I'm a glutton for punishment, I have the DVR set to record the darn thing. At least it's only set for 2 episodes (for now, but if they get a decent audience, who knows, yet another series?).

At the right you will find a poll on whether or not you believe in ghosts, please take a little time to voice your opinion. Even though I'm a skeptic, we all should be skeptical of what we see on television of course, including the "Docu-Soap" Ghost Hunters, who appear to be number one on the list of controversial shows. Many things over the years on the show have caused many to question the validity of the show. The fact that it was changed from Documentary to Docu-Soap does say a lot. I also wonder why they haven't rushed to claim the $1,000,000 prize of proof of the paranormal put up by the Amazing Randi. Seems if I had proof, I would run to claim my prize!

Now we have Ghost Hunters: Academy to look forward to viewing and check out what Steve Gonsalves and Dave Tango have to offer the paranormal community with college students joining the hunt. I read it was set for 6 episodes, I guess to see how it goes..usual for new shows to check out if they will click with the viewers. Ghost Hunters has passed 100 episodes and now is in syndication, viewable on other channels than Sy Fy. So maybe Jason and Grant will call it quits while somewhat ahead. It seems every year there comes a new problem with their evidence. At the moment, it's the window question in the Meatloaf episode, could the water bottle have been moved from outside by someone removing the storm window and lifting up the inside window and move the bottle from sink to toilet? The fact that the inside window was up when it was down when the bottle was placed on the sink and up when it was discovered on the toilet, does say something is wrong, it seems there is no reason for that window to be up. I can only guess whoever moved the bottle forgot to put the window down when replacing the storm window. You can find video of this on YouTube and decide for yourself.

I've added a link to the Television Shows part of the Forum at TheSkepticalViewer.com website.  This is a great site for debate on paranormal shows and whether or not the show portrays real paranormal evidence.  NOTE: The discussions here and on the main blog are to be civil and respectful for the other's beliefs.  Just because one of us may find something fishy and voice our opinion about it, we don't want to force views on other people, but just show alternative explanations or a good debunk, or even agreeing on some surprising things some of us may have seen.  There is also a forum topic for adding your own paranormal event.  I would also invite anyone to submit their paranormal experiences here as well.  Your post will be checked to see if it's suitable for all viewers before being added to blog.  Want to make sure the site stays child friendly.

Panama Creature Update

It would seem there is yet to be forthcoming evidence on the "Panama Monster".  However, it seems that many people seem to think it's a sloth.  I thought of this as well, with the head shape and all, but at first, I didn't notice the shots of the feet of the creature and yes, there appear to be three claws, which would put it in the 3 toed sloth variety.

As to whether or not these teenagers actually killed it, I don't know, it has no hair, it's tongue is swollen in decomposition, there don't appear to be any eyelids and it does have nipples which makes it a mammal.  Could it be that the sloth is actually a sloth fetus?  I don't know, the body apparently was never recovered, so there goes our dna tests, as well, on Wikipedia, in the Montauk Monster article, another animal decayed found on a beach a year previous, and just as conveniently, body missing, is claimed to be a crytpzoological find, it was mentioned (with citation needed) that several biologists identified it as a sloth.  As to how it's hair is missing, they didn't know and did say that there did appear to be some hair on the body in some areas.

 A major conjecture I saw was that the sloth drowned and since their bodies are covered with hair that has algae growth on it, it may have been picked at by fish, I know, kind of far out there.  But it's feet to appear to be consistant with that of a sloth as well as the shape of it's head.  It's tongue just may be swollen out of proportion from decay and as well, modifications to the body may have been made.  It all seems kind of convenient that the body is gone now doesn't it?  Same with the supposed Montauk Monster...

 Although the recent poisoning of a creature which is now frozen in a taxidermists shop, which was claimed to be a Chupacabra, that appears to me just to be a dog or dog/coyote crossbreed with the mange, a condition that causes hair to fall out, however, there is a body to do dna testing on it.  If it's allowed, I will give the taxidermist some credit, if not, he's in it for the bucks or 5 minutes of fame...I only say 5, because internet fame is much more fleeting.  Remember, CNN in their video said they would keep tabs on the Panama Creature story, but after the initial report. Nothing.

 I used to be much more interested in cryptozoology as a teenager, soaking up Bigfoot and Loch-Ness Monster reports, as well as UFO's.  However, cryptozoology has fallen a rung or two, with old myths solved as hoaxes and new creatures found under skeptical circumstances.  I guess Destination Truth will have to carry the torch for this subject and if I see something of interest, I might follow up on it.  As for it's recent "Swamp Ape" episode, I had been reading about it since those old days in the late 70's (for me), Missouri's version...etc.  We even had sightings in Northern South Dakota back then, everyone wanted in on the Bigfoot action.  If anything comes of this Panama Monster business, I will post an update. Til then...think sloth, think sloth, think sloth, think sloth....sorry, had to mess with you a bit, hopefully, you don't read aloud!

It appears the MacNeil House Ghost Hunter episode is still active..

Late last night we had the pleasure to speak to Leigh Macneil. You may remember Leigh from last week's Ghost Hunters episode titled the MacNeil House. Last night's conversation was not an interview; however, it was more like a "get to know you" rendezvous and the conversation was always friendly. We joked about family, neighbors and or course we poked fun at TAPS. Not on personal level; however, we both did agree unequivocally the show is becoming more humorous and a parallel demonstration of absolute buffoonery due to the allegations of fakery and deceit. In addition, I was surprised to learn Leigh is not a fan of GH and it was they who contacted him! Because of Leigh's tone (demeanor), I was harvesting the impression Leigh was angry about issues involving allegations of trickery (the clock) and misleading information. I told him I was not surprised since I have heard many of the horror stories involving Pilgrim Films, SyFy and TAPS (e.g., publicizing client personal information and faking evidence to pacify advertisers ). The interview will be published tomorrow since we want to give Leigh an opportunity to be thorough with the answers. In the meantime, watch the episode and you can decide. Oh, one last comment and then we'll watch the episode. Pay close attention to Leigh's lovely wife Renee as she explains to the team (during the tour) about the clock. She clearly states the clock mysteriously activated at 3 AM twice; however, during the investigation the clock is magically activated at 2 AM. Did the team screw up and set the wrong time?

A very funny site I wish I had found earlier for the paranormal skeptic

After finding a page where "disillusioned" clients of Ghost Hunters, I guess I can't really call them clients, since I found out they the homeowner is contacted by Pilgrim, the producing company, contacts THEM, not they contacting Ghost Hunters as depicted in the show.

This site contains some play by play of some episodes as they were watched by a person or persons who make some quite hilarious commentary to the episode. You have to read them to see, kind of hsrd to explain, like why Jay and Grant keep trying to pull fast ones over us.

I will also put a link on the link list, but as far as I got reading tonight, it is a bit old, late 2008, will read more tomorrow, but appeared the more disillusioned they got, the less they wanted to watch. The main page has "collar-gate" debunks on it, didn't see much newer, but the old posts were a riot to read.

Wow, what the heck is it??

A creature found in Panama City, Panama has people baffled for the moment, it may be a fetus of some sort, but there is a lot of speculation as to what it is. DNA tests will have to be done, it may be a mutated fetus of a normal animal, suffering from deformities, but was allegedly alive at the time of it's discovery by 4 teenagers, who threw rocks at it. Time will tell, will try to keep up to date on this one!

I just have to say that Jay and Grant totally mistated the fact that there was no exit for the apparent "ghost" to get through. If you look closely, there are two colums in the bookshelves on the left of the screen. Right after the second column, there is an aisle where someone could go...I watched the footage over and it appears the "ghost" made that turn right before it reached the second column, through the aisle that went to another row of bookshelves. I find it odd that they would state such a thing when it's right in front of our noses.

Also, they stated that the "ghost" appeared to be female, when in both my and my Mother's opinion, we both thought it was a man. We are watching in HDTV on a pretty large screen, so again, to say something like that when it's totally subjective, is pushing it a bit. When something like that, which is far back away from the camera, to say this and that about it, when you cannot back up for fact that it is, totally leads the viewers and probably the "clients" into believing what they want you to believe.

But after looking again and again, there IS a place for the "ghost" to exit the scene, right after the second white column on the left for the viewer, and the image sure does look like to me, that it turns right, our left, into that access aisle. There also is a portable podium there, although you cannot see this in the night footage, you CAN see the second column.

But as many of you probably don't know, they really aren't plumbers as well. This was even stated by Roto-Rooter, that they are not employees of Roto-Rooter in Rhode Island. Jason does have a one year apprentice license, but Grant doesn't even have that. And don't you think you would want licensed plumbers working on your pipes? Especially when installing devices that may use natural gas to heat water? Or how about properly installing vent pipes? I mean, all the home renovation shows I've seen, contract out licensed plumbers to do the pipework and install hot tubs and such, I wouldn't want to be electricuted by an improperly grounded hot tub!

So let's get real, and remember, although it's now Scy-Fy...it was the Science-FICTION channel.

Latest Ghost Hunter Episodes

I just have to say that the latest Ghost Hunter episodes have been very disappointing, especially the Samuel Mudd House episode. This so called "spectre" was totally someone out of position or in my OPINION, someone trying to get away with something, now WHO, is to be debated.

Jason and Grant, even in the following week, "chased" the sounds and noises they heard or the images they saw off camera. But when this huge anomoly goes across their FLIR camera, they fiddle around rewinding the thing, Jason claims to have scanned left a good distance...no not really, you can still see the light in the background, then goes back, and a bit later goes about 45 degrees to the left.

Why didn't they chase the thing? The natural human response when seeing something like that, and you have been chasing ghosts for years and years, would be to run after it!! Yet they were totally blase about the whole thing, rewinding the camera to look at the image and just rant on how amazing it is.

They said they couldn't see or hear the "apparition" but the crew cameraman was well behind Jason and Grant to the point where the "apparition" would be out of range of it's IR ability. We have Jason leading the way, Grant well behind him and the crew cameraman well behind Grant. It was obviously a SOLID object, because the FLIR device cannot measure air temperature between objects, it can only measure the temperature of the solid objects that reflect heat (Even though something is cold, it is still emitting heat, the only way it couldn't, would be to be at absolute zero, when movement of atoms stop. It's this movement of atoms that cause heat. The faster they move, the more heat they emit).

But very seldom does the Ghost Hunters crew mention that the FLIR device catches only heat or reflected heat from solid objects only. But they have mentioned it a few times. So if a client chooses to believe that the object is a ghost possibly wearing an old time bonnet and is vaporous, they never say "Oh no, it has to be a solid object for the device to see it" bringing questions into the client's mind, "well, how can a ghost be solid, if it's just energy?" That would probably not be aired on the episode. Anyway, these "apparitions" they catch with the FLIR device, even the one dancing a jig at Ft. Mifflin I believe, all have to be solid objects, ie. people. Like why would a ghost peek around the corner? After it just came out and danced a jig? If it came out to dance a jig, it's obviously not afraid to show itself, so why peek around the corner? Bah.

I also have to question EMF devices. This is a bunch of hoo-hah. I went and got an MRI, (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) which produces a magnetic field that would probably fry the EMF devices they carry, the technician told me it produces into the thousands of gauss, while these EMF detectors measure milligauss. It also would be the ultimate fear cage, would it not? Yet the only thing that really bothers people is the claustrophobia. The confined space. There is no sign that says you might experience "itching, paranoia, feelings of being watched or dread, or even hallucinations" and you are in this field up to and over a half hour. Yet this EMF claim says that some people experience it immediately if not over some time. But yet we have to remember that this is just a very small emf compared to the emf the MRI device makes, remember, this thing uses so much magnetic energy to see our muscles and tendons and soft tissue unlike x-rays. The technician I talked to also said no one experienced those effects, except for those with masses on the brain or brain injuries who might have hallucinations due to the injury. How many of you out there have had an mri? See any ghosts? If EM Fields also help ghosts manifest, you would thinks they would all be sitting around an MRI device like those waiting for Whoopi Goldberg in "Ghost"!

If this new show coming out, Ghost Lab, uses EMF devices, I might have to question that as well. They are claiming to come out and do the most scientific evaluations of ghost hot spots. I do like the fact that the GHI team does use a camera that also utilizes the ultra-violet spectrum instead of just the infra-red (heat). Remember that the ultra-violet and infra-red are just a very small part of the radiation field, which also contain x-rays and gamma rays as well. Just different wavelengths of radiation. Gamma rays being the most destructive. There are also alpha and beta rays. Forms of radiation not quite as powerful as Gamma rays, but will kill you if exposed enough. It's hard to remember that light is just a part of this radiation spectrum, including infra-red and ultra-violet, we just cannot see them. Infra-red will burn you if too close to a campfire, ultra-violet will burn you if out in the sun too long and no sunblock on you. Anyway, you can get better information on radiation, which light is a part of, on wikipedia or elsewhere on the web. As for the MRI, read up on this, the only possible skin irritation may come from older style tattoos with a lot of iron oxide (red) used in them. At any rate, I think my rant is done for the day...and as you can see, been neglecting this blog for a bit, just a lot of health problems and such, but the latest GH episodes just made me want to speak out, and thinking about the MRI that I had compared to EMF detectors.
